The Mentoring Director and staff evaluate and assign the appropriate instructor for the individual’s experience and skill level. Student load may cause a realignment of the assigned tables.
Training for advanced players will be conducted at Tables 1 and 6. Emphasis will be on game strategy, position play, advanced shooting techniques, including breaking, banking, combination shots, and the use of English, as well as the effect of the cue ball.
Training for intermediate players will be conducted at Tables 2 and 5. Intermediate instruction will be taught according to the needs and skills of the students, with the focus on the basics of advanced play.
Training for beginning students will be conducted at Tables 3 and 4. The basics are taught: how to hold a cue stick, explain an object ball/cue ball, aiming, move away from the table when not shooting, replace the bridge under the rail with neither end hanging down, keep chatter to a minimum and do not offer advice to other players unless asked to do so by another student and keep this to a minimum.
The Director, or their designate, should send out a BCC email reminder no later than Sunday.
Instructors should be familiar with the LHBG Individual Tournament Rules, APA Rules, Rules (2020 Rules Booklet.ind) (poolplayers.com), and the Welcome Information Package for New Members. All documents are available in the binders at both Lodges and on the LHBG website https://lhbilliards.com. The Mentoring Training Program Director may conduct or direct the training of instructors(s) on an as-needed basis to ensure consistency of instruction.
At the end of the second training session, players are to return the billiard balls to the front desk.
