Tournament Rules
American Pool players Association (APA) rules will be followed. The exceptions are:
Balls (1/15 version) in Rack for Break
8-ball its usual position in center; 1-ball touching bottom right of 8-ball; 15-ball touching left side of 1-ball. Teams lag for break. Four balls must hit a bank on the break. If not, the opposing team shoots from the kitchen. If the cue ball is scratched on the break, the opposing player will initiate play with a ball in hand from the kitchen.
Instructions for Pocketing the 1/15 Balls When Standing at the Racking Position (use the lamp above the table as a reference)
The player with “solids” must pocket the 1 ball in the left side pocket for it to stay down (or the 15 ball, in the right side pocket). Those balls can be sumk in any pocket, but they will be spotted if not made in the appropriate pocket. If a player’s opponent pockets the player’s 1 or 15, then it will stay down. If a player moves the opponent’s 1 or 15 while making a shoot and it was determined that a foul was made, then the opponent’s 1 or 15 is taken off the table.
When time is called and the player is in the shooting position, the shot may be completed. If the player stands back up when time is called, the play is over.
If time runs out before the game has been completed, the winner will be the player/team with the fewest balls remaining. If the same number of balls per team remains (the 1 and 15 have a value of 2 balls), then the game is declared a tie. The tie is equal to ½ point on the final score sheet.
Winners of the game will accurately mark the win/loss results (T for a tie) on the score sheet. Losers will rack the balls for the next round. Everyone needs to check the score sheet at times to make sure it is accurate. At the end of the sixth game, losers are to return chalk to box on fireplace shelf and balls to the Activities Desk.
Recognition
At the end of sixth game, the Tournament Leader calculates the winners for 1st and 2nd place. Then takes a photo of the winners and emails it with full names to participants, webmaster, and elected board of directors.
