Sign up for the following month is held on the last Friday of the previous month. The first twenty-four players listed on the sign-up list must be in attendance and have a player number by 9:50 AM. If vacancies occur at that point, the standby players are given priority in the order on the signup sheet. Play begins at 10:00 AM and concludes at 12:00 PM or completion of the seventh game.
Tournament Rules
The Tournament follows the American Pool Players Association (APA) rules with the following exception:
Break will be IAW, the APA Rules, or the Professional Players Rules.
IAW, the Professional Players Rules, if a ball is legally pocketed on the break the player can shoot at any other ball until another ball is legally pocketed. The table is open until another ball is made. This can be by either team. The Tournament Leader will survey the players as to what they prefer.
Each player gets a player number upon sign in on the Tournament day. The Tournament Leader, or assigned number caller, calls the numbers for the players at each table. The lower numbers always play against the higher numbers. If there is an uneven number of players at the table, the lower number always plays against the higher two numbers.
Teams lag for break at the start of each game.
The games are 16 minutes each and there is a timer clearly visible in the room. If time is called and the shooter is in the shooting position at the table, then the shooter is allowed to take one last shot at that point.
When time is called and there are balls still on the table, the team with the fewest balls on the table wins. If there is the same number of balls on the table for both teams, then each ball counts as one point while the 1 and 15 balls count two points each. If the scores are equal, then mark the game as a tie (T) for both teams.
The winners of the game mark the results on the score sheet with a “W” for each team player that won the game and a “L” for each team player that lost the game. In the event of a tie game, all players review a “T” for the tie game. Losers rack the balls for the next game. Everyone should check the score sheet from time to time to make sure it is accurate. At the end of the last game (number 7), the losers of each table should place all balls in the trays and return them to the Activity Desk.
Recognition
At the end of the Tournament, the Tournament Leader calculates the tournament winners (1st and 2nd Place), takes a photo of them if they want. The photo and full names of the winners is emailed to the webmaster, tournament players, and the elected board members.
