Sign-up Procedure
Until there is a need to provide advance signup sheets, the signup for each tournament will be available on the day of the tournament. A member must be present to sign up. Members who are not present may be added to the list after everyone has had an opportunity to sign up. The sign-up list will be available at 11:15 AM.
Tournament Check-in Procedure
The sign-up sheet is available at 11:15 AM in the Billiards Room. The sign-up sheet will also indicate the player’s number for the tournament. Play starts at 11:45 AM or sooner if there are 24 players. Players are expected to stay for the entire tournament.
Tournament Rules
The Tournament Leader will administer procedures and settle disputes. Upstarts follows the APA Rules. Some exceptions are:
1. If the break is not legal, the opposing player will initiate play with ball in hand from the “the kitchen.” We will play with professional rules on the break. If a ball is pocketed on the break, the shooter has the option of shooting at either solids or stripes. If the player misses the second shot, the table is still open.
2. The player must verbally call the pocket for the 8 Ball.
3. If a player is in a shooting position when time expires, the player is allowed to continue the shot.
4. If the game is not completed when time expires, the player/team with the fewest balls on the table wins. If the number of balls that remain for each player/team are equal, each records a tie. The winning player/team will mark the results on the score sheet. The losers of the game will rack the balls for the next game.
Recognition
The Tournament Leader calculates the first and second place finishers and will provide the names and pictures to the email coordinator for distribution.
